2. Education

  • 1995 – 2000: chemistry studies at Faculty of Chemistry of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland; specialization in physical and theoretical chemistry.
  • 2000: Master of Science in Chemistry at Faculty of Chemistry of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland. Master Thesis titled: Critical phenomena in two-dimensional net gas; MSc thesis supervisor: prof. Malgorzata Borowko.
  • 2008: PhD in medicinal chemistry at Medical University of Lublin, Poland. PhD thesis titled: Synthesis and study on novel non-competitive antagonists of GluR5/6 receptors with expected neuroprotective and antiseizure activity; PhD thesis supervisor: prof. Dariusz Matosiuk.
  • October 2009 – March 2011: postdoctoral stay in Computer-Assisted Drug Design Group of Research Program on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB), IMIM/Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, funded by Foundation for Polish Science and and La Marato projects. Postdoctoral project entitled: Identification of novel molecular targets for the treatment of schizophrenia and the design of potent antipsychotics; postdoctoral project supervisor: prof. Manuel Pastor.
  • November 2011 – April 2012: postdoctoral stay in Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry II, University of Regensburg, Germany, funded by DAAD. Postdoctoral project entitled: Molecular modeling of D2R-mGluR5 heterodimer as a drug target in schizophrenia; postdoctoral project supervisor: prof. Stefan Dove.
  • August 2012 – July 2014: postdoctoral stay in Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland under Marie Curie fellowship. Postdoctoral project entitled: Molecular modeling of cannabinoid CB1 receptor homodimer and its interaction with ligands: the role of CRIP1a protein; postdoctoral project supervisor: prof. Antti Poso.
  • April 2013 and September 2013: two one-week visits at Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland regarding molecular dynamics of GPCRs with Gromacs.
  • 2014: One-month stay at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany regarding virtual screening for orthosteric and allosteric GPCR ligands, group leader: Dr. Peter Kolb.
  • 2016: One-month stay at University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio regarding virtual screening, group leader prof. Antti Poso.
  • 2017: Habilitation in medicinal chemistry: Application of computational methods for studying GPCRs, their dimers and their interactions with ligands – case study of dopamine D2 receptor.
  • 2017:One week visit to University Compultense of Madrid under Erasmus programme.

4. Employment and responsibilities

July 2020 – present: I hold an associate professor researcher position in the Department of Synthesis and Chemical Technology of Pharmaceutical Substances with Computer Modeling Lab at Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University in Lublin, Poland.

November 2000 – June 2020: I hold an assistant and then adjunct researcher position in the Department of Synthesis and Chemical Technology of Pharmaceutical Substances with Computer Modeling Lab at Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University in Lublin, Poland. Apart from research work I am also involved in teaching. I have laboratory classes Synthesis and Technology of Drugs for students of the fourth year of pharmacy and lectures on Organic Chemistry and Advanced Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry in English for American second-year premedical students.

October 2009 – March 2011: postdoctoral position in Computer-Assisted Drug Design Group of Research Programme for Biomedical Informatics (GRIB), IMIM/Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona.

November 2011 – April 2012: postdoctoral position in Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry II, University of Regensburg, Germany.
